The plant families are also diverse. Most are wild-growing plants that have been cultivated to varying degrees by growers and collectors.\r\nIn addition to the wild-growing species that are (or can be) used as aromatic and medicinal plants, varieties have been bred from originally Mediterranean species or adapted to the respective Alpine climate over a long period of time.\r\nPhytotherapy is gaining in importance.
